‘Star Trek: Discovery’ – EW Trio Covers, First Openly Gay Character, Posters and More

Entertainment Weekly have released their trio covers featuring the cast of ‘Star Trek: Discovery.’  The first cover features Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs and Shazad Latif . The second cover features Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham. The last cover features Martin-Green, Jones, Anthony Rapp and Mary Wiseman.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ is introducing the first openly gay character ‘Star Trek’ television history. Actor Anthony Rapp (Rent) will play Lt. Paul Stamets, a science officer who specializes in astromycology, the study of fungus in space.

Composer John Powell To Score The Han Solo Movie

Lucasfilm have announced that composer John Powell will score the upcoming young Han Solo movie. Powell is best known for his memorable soundtracks to the Matt Damon Bourne series, Face/Off, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda (1 and 2), and How to Train Your Dragon (1 and 2), Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and X-Men: The Last Stand, just to name a few.

Powell is only the third composer to be welcomed into the exclusive family of Star Wars live-action music writers, which includes the legendary John Williams (the eight Skywalker saga movies) and Michael Giacchino, who scored last December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

According to the press release, “the untitled Han Solo movie will be scored in the style of the original Star Wars movies but retain Powell’s distinctive voice.”
